Local Veteran Recognised by Secretary of State for Defence

The Staple Hill and District Branch of the Royal British Legion is proud to share that Norman Low, a Royal Navy veteran and long-standing stalwart of the branch, has been formally acknowledged by letter from the Secretary of State for Defence, John Healey MP, in recognition of his service and dedication.

The letter was requested by Claire Hazelgrove MP, who highlighted Norman’s service and his continued commitment to the Royal British Legion and the local community. Norman’s contribution over many years has made a lasting impact on the branch and on remembrance activities in Staple Hill.


Sharing the news on social media, Claire Hazelgrove MP said:

“It was an honour to request this recognition for Norman Low. His service to our country and his ongoing commitment to the Royal British Legion and Royal Naval Association truly deserve to be acknowledged. Veterans like Norman remind us of the importance of service, remembrance and community spirit.”

Branch Chair Ian Campbell added:

“Norman is a hugely respected member of our branch and a true example of dedication and service. We are delighted to see him recognised at a national level, and we thank Claire Hazelgrove MP for taking the time to ensure his contribution was properly acknowledged. This recognition means a great deal to Norman and to all of us at the branch.”

The branch extends its congratulations and thanks to Norman for his service, loyalty and continued support of the Royal British Legion. We are proud to count him among our members and friends.
