Staple Hill and District Branch of the Royal British Legion Branch was proud to be recognised at the recent South Gloucestershire Council Community Awards, celebrating the dedication and impact of local organisations and volunteers across the district.

The branch was represented on the evening by Ian Campbell (Chair), Di Roberts (Vice-Chair) and Cllr Ian Boulton (Branch President), who attended the awards ceremony on behalf of the membership.
In addition to the branch recognition, Di Roberts was individually honoured with a Community Hero Award, acknowledging her many years of commitment to the Royal British Legion and her key role in organising the Staple Hill Remembrance Day service and parade. Di’s dedication, leadership, and tireless work for remembrance and the local community were warmly applauded on the night.

The awards were formally presented by Cllr Katy Cooper, Chair of South Gloucestershire Council.
Branch Chair Ian Campbell said:
“It was a real honour for the branch to be recognised in this way. The work we do is only possible because of the dedication of our volunteers and members, and Di’s Community Hero award is richly deserved. She embodies everything the Royal British Legion stands for — service, remembrance and community.”
The branch would like to thank South Gloucestershire Council for the recognition and extend congratulations to all the other award recipients. We remain proud to serve the Staple Hill and surrounding community and to continue supporting remembrance and the Armed Forces family.
